Bishop Paul and Archbishop Justin appeared before the Home Affairs Select Committee (Tuesday 7th June) in relation to the Committee’s ongoing work on immigration and asylum, specifically refugee support and asylum accommodation. The appearance was as a result of invitations from committee chair Keith Vaz MP.
Bishop Paul has spoken widely on the subject in the House of Lords where his focus includes: asylum, immigration and nationality. See: [http://www.parliament.uk/biographies/Lords/member/4312] and [http://newsroom.durhamdiocese.net/category/bishops-press-releases/]
Keith Vaz recently raised the Church’s offer on refugees in the Commons – see here: [http://www.theyworkforyou.com/whall/?id=2016-01-27b.151.1#g157.1]
